EQUILIBRIUM POSITION OF AN OBJECT
Problem
We choose a coordinate axes so that the z axis points up and the ceiling of a room is part of the x,y plane. Three pulleys are attached to the ceiling at points A (0,0,0), B (10,0,0), and C (0,7,0) respectively. An object weighing 50 units is suspended by three ropes which go over the pulleys and are attached to weights at the other end. If the weights attached are 30 units, 20 units, and 40 units respectively determine the coordinates of the position of the object.
