Procedures, Conditional Statements, and Plotting Solids

Here we draw solids which are bounded by parts of surfaces. You will be using procedures, conditional statements (if then else), and the standard 3D plotting commands. Please read the part of the tutorial dealing with these. You will be unable to complete this lab if you do not know that material.

  1. Using Maple, plot the graph of the function
    displaymath56
  2. Using the ``special feature'' of the plot3d command, draw the solid bounded on the sides by the surfaces tex2html_wrap_inline58 and tex2html_wrap_inline60, bounded on top by the plane z=3, and bounded below by the plane z=0. No extra pieces should be visible. Color the 4 surfaces differently. You will not need any cut off functions for this problem.
  3. Using cut off functions in Maple, draw the solid bounded below by tex2html_wrap_inline66 and bounded above by the plane y+z=2. No extra pieces should be visible. Hint : A single inequality describes the region in the x,y plane which is the shadow of this solid.
