Exams: There will be three hourly exams and a
comprehensive final exam. The dates of the hourly exams will be
given on:
Friday, September 26
Friday, October 24
Monday, November 24
The material to be covered in each hourly will be announced at
least a week in advance. There will be no make-ups after the
fact.
The final exam will be given during the final exam week
and it will cover entire course.
Diagnostic Quiz:
In order to measure the learning proficiency of our students, there will be a 20
minute diagnostic quiz on ''infinite series" that you have learned from Calculus
course (such as M242). This quiz will be given in class in the beginning of
October. The precise date will be announced later. To prepare the quiz, you
should review the subject from your Calculus book.
Homework:
(a) Problem assignments from the text will be given in each lecture. Although
these assignments are not to be handed in, you should do all of them
and similar problems may be asked in the hourly examinations.
(b) Two computer projects will be assigned and must be handed in.
Computer Software: The computer software package Maple will be used
through out the course.
Grading: Course grade will be computed according to the
following formula:
M302-010 students: (i) Hourlies: 3@100 = 300 Points, (ii) Computer Projects:
135 Points, (iii) Diagnostic Quiz: 15 points, and
(iv) Comprehensive Final: 150 Points. Total 600 Points
