Fall 2008 Math 426 and Cisc 410

Introduction to Numerical Analysis and Algorithmic Computation

R.J. Braun

Lectures
Class will be held in Ewing 207, MWF 1:25-2:15.

Office Hours, 509 Ewing
M 9:30-10:30 and 2:30-3:30; WF 8:30-9:30.

Textbook
Foundations of Numerical Analysis: An Introduction Using Matlab, T.A. Driscoll and R.J. Braun. (a textbook fairly far along toward publication.) I will distribute the first chapter at the beginning of the course. The bound text for the semester will be purchased for $15 a little bit later; the money helps to cover copying costs.

Syllabus
Math 426 and Cisc 410, sections 010

Programming
Matlab will be used in class, and the assignments will be designed for it. However, other languages can be used with my permission.

Beginning Matlab Exercises
I produced this little list of exercises for practice in beginning Matlab in pdf format. It is not a true Matlab tutorial; it is part tutorial, part problem list.
