Teaching 2019 fall semester

Math 612 Computational Methods for Equation Solving and Function Minimization is what I'm teaching this semester. Basic info on this class, including the syllabus, can be found on this rudimentary page, but the course will be run through Canvas. The course is currently scheduled TR 9:30-10:45 in Ewing 210.

Master of Science in Data Science at UD

I'm working with a number of faculty around campus as the Founding Director of the Master of Science in Data Science at UD. More info is at the MS in Data Science web page. Questions may be sent to a proper form of msds-director _at_ udel _dot_ edu. Information on data science around campus can be found via the Data Science Institute.

Research

Most of my research is related to mathematical models for the tear film on the eye.

Center for Applications of Mathematics in Medicine

Check out the recently formed Center for Application of Mathematics in Medicine (CAMM). CAMM has a YouTube channel that we occasionally update with short videos about our projects.

New book out!

SIAM has published our new book, Fundamentals of Numerical Computation by Toby Driscoll and yours truly. If you're not a member already, join SIAM and save 30% when buying the book. If the book is adopted for a class, the students get 20% off.
