Open a Maple window (as before) if you don't have one.
To plot the graph of the function
over the range
use
plot( x^2, x=-1..1 );
You should now have a Maple and a graphical window. We now try some window
manipulations
bullist
To move a window, move the arrow to the top part of the window
where it says Maple, hold down the left mouse button and drag that
window wherever you want. Try this on the Maple and the graphical window
till you are satisfied with their positions.
To hide a graphical window temporarily (to make room)
left click the little dot button
(not the big button) in the top right corner of graphical window.
You should get an icon labeled Maple V 2D at the bottom left of
your monitor. To bring back the graph, left click
that icon and you should have the graph back.
Move the graphical window till it is obscuring the Maple window.
To bring the Maple window in front, left click one of the borders of
the Maple
window anywhere (except the triangular button). Now the graphical window is
obscured. Bring the graphical window in front using the same method.
To resize a graphical window (so that it does not obscure another
window), move the arrow to the bottom right tip of the graphical window
and the arrow will turn into another shape. Holding down
the left mouse button
drag that corner till you have resized the window to your liking.
Now move this window so that it does not obstruct the Maple window.
Keystrokes on the keyboard affect only one of the windows on the screen
- which we call the active window.
A window is activated by left clicking anywhere in that window.
Now activate the Maple window and type a few characters - note where the
characters are displayed. Now activate the graphical window and type
a few characters - nothing is displayed. Now activate the Maple window
again and delete those arbitrary characters.
To quit/kill a graphical window, activate it, and type q
- the window is destroyed.
