Mathematical Problems arising in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
David Isaacson
Abstract:
We will describe 3 problems that arise in diagnosing and treating breast cancer.
- We will describe problems in using electrical impedance tomography to diagnose breast cancer.
- We will describe the problem of determining the growth rates of cancer from the number of Her2 receptors on the surface of Her2 positive cells.
- We will describe the problem of why the order of administering 4 standard chemotherapeutic drugs can make a large difference
in the outcome in treating breast cancer in the adjuvant setting.
