A multi-scale approach to the Erd\H{o}s-Falconer type single distance problems.

Abstract: We discuss the Erd\H{o}s-Falconer type single distance problems, and present new estimates, in some special cases, on the measure of the set of pairs of points from a subset of $[0,1]^d$ which are $\epsilon$-nearly a given distance apart. The proof involves a blend of discrete and analytic techniques.
