Radial Basis Functions methods for time-dependent PDEs: adaptation and approximation of discontinuous functions.

In this talk we discuss several topics concerned with using Radial Basis Function approximation methods for time-dependent PDEs. Global and finite difference mode adaptive RBF methods are described in 1d. Extension to higher dimensions is discussed. Additionally, we discuss the approximation of piecewise continuous functions by RBFs and describe a post processing algorithm to remove Gibbs oscillations from RBF approximants.
