Abstract: We have developed new smoothers for the Stokes and linear elasticity problems. Using the multigrid Poisson solve, we precondition the indefinite system from the finite element discretization of these saddle point problems. We prove the resulting multigrid algorithms are contractions with the contraction number depending on the regularity of the solution but independent of the mesh level.
