This thesis is concerned with the study of three finite projective planes of order 16. The planes arise by Bose-Barlotti derivation from other planes of order 16. In particular, two of them, denoted BBH1 and BBH2, are derived from the dual of the Hall plane of order 16, while the other, referred to as BBS4, is derived from the dual of the semifield plane of order 16 with kernel GF(4). We give an overview of derivation in general and of the Bose-Barlotti derivation. We then proceed to study in detail the geometric properties of BBH1, BBH2 and BBS4 by using the computer algebra system MAGMA.
