Application Materials

A complete GEMS application consists of the following materials attached in the order outlined below and submitted to the Graduate Director by March 2, 2012. Note, all materials should be written by the student. The faculty advisor can and should provide editorial advice, but the proposal comes from the
student, not the faculty advisor.

(1) A complete, signed, cover sheet. (PDF version here.)
(2) A research plan totaling no longer than 3 pages in length. A one-paragraph abstract must be included at the start of the research plan.
(3) A description of the graduate student's responsibilities in mentoring and supervising undergraduate members of the GEMS team. This description must be no longer than 1 page in length.
(4) A current vita for the graduate student.
(5) An unofficial transcript from Fall 2011 for the graduate student.
