1. The Program
The Department of Mathematical
Sciences at the University
of Delaware offers a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics (BAMS).
The BAMS is the program designed for those students who wish to
follow a
broad course of study. It provides a liberal arts education with a
concentration in mathematics.

2. Advising
Students are required to consult their advisors prior to
registering for courses. The advisors are also a source of
information on careers and other items of interest to the
students.

- Three credits in a second writing course (after completion of 60 credits)
- Foreign language 107 or 112 (or, for
students with more than 4 years of high school foreign language
or the equivalent, satisfactory performance on a proficiency
test in that language)
- Nine credits in Group A, representing at least two departments or appropriate
instructional units
- Nine credits in Group B, representing at least two departments or appropriate
instructional units
- Nine credits in Group C, representing at least two departments or appropriate
instructional units
- Ten credits in Group D, representing at least two departments or appropriate
instructional units and including a minimum of one course with an
associated laboratory.

(Students with no previous experience with a programming
language should take CISC106
before taking CISC181.
CISC 106 should be taken in the spring semester. CISC 106 is reserved for engineering majors in the Fall.)
Any substitution must be approved by the Department's Undergraduate Studies Committee.

After required courses are completed, sufficient elective credits must be taken to meet the minimum credit requirement for
the degree, with 79 credits in other than MATH courses, and a total of 124 credits.
