Stakgold Graduate Fellowship
The Department is offering one Stakgold Graduate Fellowship per year beginning
in Fall 2007. This fellowship is in honor of Dr. Ivar Stakgold, who
was a long-serving chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and
who was a President of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
The Stakgold fellow must demonstrate exceptional mathematical ability
and have strong communication skills that are well suited to an academic
career.
Fellows will receive a stipend of $20,000, and will teach 3-5 contact hours
per week. This fellowship is for one academic year only. Subsequently, fellows
will be supported under regular TA, RA or Unidel fellowships subject to good
standing in the graduate program.
The deadline for applying for this fellowship is February 15, 2007.
Applicants should apply on-line (www.udel.edu/gradoffice/applicants) and
follow the required university procedure for the application to the PhD graduate
program of the Department. In addition applicants should notify Graduate
Committee of the Department electronically (
grad@math.udel.edu) that
he/she is applying for the Stakgold Graduate Fellowship.
