Calculus Preparatory Program (CPP)
Winter/Spring 2010
The Department of Mathematical Sciences wants to ensure all students enrolling in Math 241 – Geometry and Calculus A, have the prerequisite precalculus and trigonometry skills needed to succeed. If your math placement exam score is Level IV or V, this indicates some gaps in your background. The Calculus Preparatory Program (CPP) provides an opportunity for you to review these skills so you can enroll in Math 241. The CPP is an online assessment and learning program of Precalculus and Trigonometry skills. It is coordinated by the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the ALEKS® Corporation. The cost is $30 for six-week access.
DUE DATE(s):
Winter 2010 Session registration: Begin no later than November 16th and finish by December 21st*
If you begin prior to November 16th, you must finish six weeks from the date of your registration with the ALEKS program or December 21st, whichever is earliest.
Spring 2010 Session registration: Begin no later than December 16th and finish by January 20th*.
If you begin prior to December 16th, you must finish six weeks from the date of your registration with the ALEKS program or January 20th, whichever is earliest.
*It is to your advantage to complete the program as soon as possible to ensure the best choice of Math 241 course meeting times.
Past experience indicates students need about three weeks to complete the program. However, your time to completion is determined by your knowledge of these skills and it may take a longer or shorter amount of time.
COMPLETION OF PROGRAM
To successfully complete this program, two constraints must be met. You must successfully complete 70% or more of the trigonometry topics AND successfully complete 70% or more of all the topics. Your progress is monitored routinely and when you successfully complete the program, you will be contacted by email. Once confirmed, you will need to contact your college advising office to make changes to your schedule. This is your responsibility and is not done automatically. If you do not know how to contact your college advising office, please go to http://www.udel.edu/registrar/subjects.html
