 Research Interests
My research interests include the investigation of pedagogical content knowledge for both pre-service and in-service teachers, the cognitive development of the concept of function, and the analysis of the technological factors that promote conceptual understanding of functions and graphs. In particular, this research examines the relationship between teachers knowledge and beliefs and their instruction practices with a focus on improving instructional practices and ultimately students mathematical understanding.
 Teaching Interests
Teaching mathematics is a delicate balance. On the one hand, the teacher wants to create opportunities for students to investigate challenging problems and explore mathematical relationships. On the other hand, he/she facilitates discussions (lectures) that provide clear explanations of mathematical concepts, procedures, and relationships. My course assignments have included preparatory mathematics such as College Algebra and Statistics (MATH114) and Pre-calculus (MATH115/MATH117) as well as both of the calculus courses (MATH221/MATH241) and a web course for statistics (MATH201). In all of these courses, I have two objectives: To provide opportunities for students to develop a through understanding of the mathematics and to provide opportunities for students to develop mathematical maturity.
