Second Annual Student Summer Research Symposium features 13 talks given by student researchers

Congratulations to Dan Cargill, Janine Jankowski, Lauren Rossi, Katie Johnson, Patrick Zulkowski, Hudaa Neetoo, Katie Sharpe, Tom Fleetman, Latonia Polk, Drew Marshall and Andrew Seagraves who wrapped up their summer research activities with a bang at the Second Annual Student Summer Research Symposium on August 13.  Papers covered topics including remote sensing, sphere packing, food chemistry and fluid dynamics.  Faculty advisors including Phil Broadbridge, Cathy Davies (Food Chemistry), John Pelesko, Rakesh and Lou Rossi. For the first time, Sigma Xi sponsored a student prize of $100 and a free Sigma Xi membership for the best all-around presentation.  Sigma Xi is a scientific research honorary society which hold local events of general interest on campus.  Janine Jankowski and Lauren Rossi each earned the award for their collaborative work analyzing and measuring void fractions in one and two dimensions.
