Mr. Sijiang Lu wins poster award at IMA meeting

Mr Sijiang Lu, graduate student in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, won a third place award for his poster on “Delta-BEM for 2D Helmholtz Problems”. His research is under the supervision of Dr. Francisco-Javier Sayas, associate professor in the department. The meeting was the NSF Workshop on the Boundary Element Method: Bridging Education and Industrial Applications, which was held under the auspices of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The workshop was held April 23 – 26, 2012 and consisted of a two-day short course and a two-day colloquium on advances in the BEM with educational and industrial applications. Researchers and engineers from around the world were invited to participate and scholarships were given to 30 undergraduate and graduate students from U.S. universities to support their participation in the workshop. The workshop also included poster sessions given by the students. Three students with the top three poster presentations received recognition during the workshop.
