The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the 28 academic institutional members of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), a National Science Foundation institute based at the University of Minnesota.

The IMA has been a leader in fostering research of a truly interdisciplinary nature, linking mathematics of the highest caliber and important scientific and technological problems from other disciplines and industry. As an institutional member, our Department has a direct influence on IMA directions and programming, access to the IMA scientific community, among other benefits.
