Prof. Cook Appointed to Fields Institute Advisory Board

Prof. Pam Cook has been appointed to a five year term on the Fields Institute for Mathematical Research Scientific Advisory Panel. The goal of the Fields Institute, which occupies a building on the University of Toronto campus, is to "enhance mathematical activity in Canada by bringing together mathematicians from Canada and abroad, and by promoting contact and collaboration between professional mathematicians and the many diverse users of mathematics." Major support for the Institute comes from the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Primary among the activities that the Institute and its staff initiate and support are the semester long thematic programs which draw large number of research mathematicians. The Institute provides support and office space for up to 66 visiting researchers.
