Congratulations to Prof. L. Pamela Cook who has just been elected Secretary of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)!  Prof. Cook is also the editor-in-chief of SIAM Journal of Applied Mathematics.

  SIAM (the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) is the representative society for applied mathematics. Membership stands at more than 10,000. SIAM Members are applied and computational mathematicians, computer scientists, numerical analysts, engineers, statisticians, mathematics educators, and students. SIAM has over 400 institutional members - colleges, universities, corporations, and research organizations.  To serve this diverse group of professionals, in addition to holding an annual meeting and many specialized conferences, short courses, and workshops, SIAM publishes 11 peer-reviewed research journals and approximately 25 books per year.
