Prof. Pam Cook takes reins as SIAM Vice President for Publications

Prof. Pam Cook, professor of mathematical sciences and associate dean in the College of Engineering for faculty development, has been appointed vice president for publications of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). SIAM is the representative society for applied mathematics, whose members include applied and computational mathematicians, computer scientists, numerical analysts, engineers, statisticians, mathematics educators and students. The organization has more than 13,000 individual members and 500 institutional members, which include colleges, universities, corporations and research organizations. In addition to holding an annual meeting, specialized conferences, short courses and workshops, SIAM publishes 15 peer-reviewed research journals and approximately 25 books annually.
