Michelle Cirillo has been awarded a Knowles Science Teaching Foundation (KSTF) Research Fellowship. Two fellowships were awarded this year, one in science and one in mathematics. Through this grant, Doctor Cirillo will pursue a study of second year high school teachers teaching proof. She is interested in learning about the proof-related discourse practices of beginning geometry teachers and studying the ways in which a professional development experience that provides them with tools designed to engage their students in proving will influence their classroom talk around proof. KSTF Research Fellowships support early career scholars engaged in critical research relevant to the mentoring and retention of high quality mathematics and science teachers.
