Assistant Professor in Discrete Mathematics


The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware invites applications for a tenure-track position in discrete mathematics at the assistant professor level beginning September 2008. Priority will be given to applicants whose research is in (1) algorithmic number theory, or (2) computational group theory and representation theory, or (3) additive and probabilistic combinatorics, or (4) an area compatible with the current research interests of the discrete mathematics group.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, and should demonstrate extremely strong research potential and excellence in teaching. Expected duties include graduate and undergraduate teaching, sustained excellence in funded research, supervision of graduate students, university and department service.

Applications are due by November 30, 2007, and should include a curriculum vitae, a research statement, and four reference letters, one of which discusses the candidate’s teaching qualifications.
