Department of Mathematical Sciences
Automated Personal Web Page Setup
The Computer Committee wrote a program to assist people in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in
setting up their personal web page.
Here is a sample of the output of this program.
-
To automate the generation of your personal page, please enter the following command at a command prompt on any of the departmental Sun computers (or an xterm window logged into a Sun computer from a Windows PC).
homepage
The program will ask you a few questions. It will create
a directory (~/public_html) and a home page file (index.html) in it.
- If you need to change information, you can just run the
program again. When you run the
program the second time, it will ask you the same
questions again, however the defaults will be your previous input.
If an item needs not to be changed, you can push return to confirm
the previous input.
- Each time you run the program, your previous homepage will be
backed up as another file in the web page directory ~/public_html.
- Also, the program will automatically detect if you have a picture
file available. If so, it will include your picture
in your home page. If you would like your picture scanned into a file, you
may ask the Computer Committee
for help.
- You can modify your home page file manually after you use
this program to create the file first time.
Please feel free to contact the Computer Committe by email (help@math.udel.edu) if you have any questions.
