INSTRUCTOR SETUP TO SHARE FILES WITH STUDENTS

Sharing Maple Files In The Classroom

Every instructor has an account on newton, the server for the math department classrooms. Suppose the instructor will be placing the files in the directory M243 in his account on newton. The instructor must do the following on newton.

$\bullet$
Transfer, the files he wishes to share, from his account on the math system to the directory M243 in his account on newton.
$\bullet$
Change the protection of his home directory and the M243 directory so that others can read the files in the directory M243. After logging in to newton, do the following.
cd
chmod go+x ~ makes home directory executable
chmod go+rx M243 makes M243 directory readable by anyone
$\bullet$
Change the protection of all files in the M243 directory so that they may be read by anyone. To change the protection of a file named velocity.mws in the JM243 directory
cd M243 move to the M243 directory
chmod go+r velocity.mws make velocity.mws readable by any one
$\bullet$
The rest of the setup is to be done by the students as explained in the handout meant for them. The instructor will need to tailor it to his needs.

Sharing Maple Files On The Composers

Repeat the above instructions but do it for one of the composers instead of newton.
